What is Momentum Personal Advising?
A personal advising and coaching practice that helps capable adults gain clarity, develop a strategy, and build the momentum to make meaningful change in their professional and personal lives.
How is this different from therapy?
| Personal Advising (Momentum) | Therapy / Counseling | |
|---|---|---|
| Focus | Present and future — goals, decisions, forward movement | Past and present — emotional processing, mental health |
| Client profile | Functioning well but stuck or unclear | Experiencing distress, trauma, or mental health conditions |
| Approach | Structured process with concrete outcomes | Exploratory, relationship-based, open-ended |
| Sessions | 12-week Blueprint or ongoing advisory | Ongoing, duration varies |
| Outcome | Clarity, strategy, and sustainable momentum | Healing, symptom relief, psychological insight |
| Therapeutic relationship | No | Yes |
While David J. Namir holds a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) credential, the services provided through Momentum Personal Advising are coaching and advisory in nature — not therapy. Coaching does not constitute a therapeutic relationship and is not a substitute for professional mental health treatment.
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or believe you may benefit from clinical services, you are encouraged to seek support from a licensed mental health professional.
